AGGRAND Natural Lime Plus contains limestone that is very finely ground. It is two times finer than the limestone in many conventional bagged lime products. The smaller particles dissolve more quickly in the soil solution resulting in rapid pH adjustment. In addition, the finer particles once in solution are able to penetrate deeper into the soil which increases the nutrient availability around a greater percentage of the plant roots. The deeper penetration on the lime solution is especially effective on turf and other permanent groundcovers where it is impractical to till in bagged lime products. Soil liming also provides added long term effects. It increases microbial activity and the proliferation of earthworms and beneficial insects. This added side effect improves soil tilth which facilitates increased penetration and holding capacity of water and nutrients, and better soil aeration. Also, earthworms pull thatch down into their dens and eat it producing humus (decomposed organic matter). By increasing the earthworm population, lawn thatch is reduced and soil organic matter is increased.
